CHARACTER NOTES
Detective Chuckles
- Lighthearted, goofy yet still carries official "detective air"
- Loves chewing gum (pretend), rather gets in Detective Calamity's "bubble"
Detective Calamity
- More precise and uptight, serious, all business and often annoyed with Chuckles
- Often fidgets with glasses
Vanessa the Vole
- Vole, nervous, chatty, talks hurredly, moves around lightly but quickly/often, very friendly
Mr. Owl
- Deeper voice, more serious, moves with distinction, particular, annoyed
Troll 1 & Troll 2
- Lumbersome, not the brightest, brutish, two peas in a trollish pod
Smart Mushroom
- Very “brainy”, intellectual type, more serious than other mushrooms and not afraid of the trolls
Hippie Mushroom
- Typical hippie stereotype, just wants everyone to get along, prefers to meditate all day
Little Mushroom
- Dramatic, toddler-like, very rattled and upset, pouty
Dark Mushroom
- Like the “muscle” of the group, particularly looks out for Little Mushroom, intimidating vibe
Southern Belle
- Southern twang, doe in distress, like a lady right out of a classic western film
Doc
- witty, cultured gentleman with a wild west vibe, frontier vagabond
Jonny
- wild west cowboy, more raw edged and dark, moody
Clint Eastwood
- confident and cool, smooth and sly, suave and direct but polite
Narrator
- Confident, calm, and mysterious. Heavily expressive voice that carries a natural warmth and authority. Speaks with depth and passion
Tree A
- Nervous and chatty Ash tree, often shaking in fear. Don't be afraid to add a LOT of character to up the entertainment with your lines.
Tree B
- Brave, slightly sarcastic Ash tree, informative. Don't be afraid to add a LOT of character to up the entertainment with your lines.
Mad Scientist
- VITAL to be "all out". Kinda loony, loose cannon, but friendly and very smiley, messy hair and oversized lab coat, comic relief running around the Narrator after injecting trees, often miming words the others say.
Larry Peppertop
- Overly dramatic, very goofy, somewhat clumsy, exaggerated energy in every word and movement
Bat 1
- Trying to sleep, sassy squeaker
Bat 2
- Trying to sleep, moody, dramatic
Prairie Chicken
- Fatherly like, calm, kind and mature, but not a fan of Ringneck Pheasant
Ringneck Pheasant
- Full of himself, loves to show off, rude
Campers 1 - 3 (P1 - P3)
- Young teens braving the dark, feeling brave but all a little scared even if trying to hide it, doing their best to tell the story with a scary tone.
DRESS IN OWN CLOTHES: warm camper-style clothing, jeans, sneakers, hoodie, baseball cap if you like.
Counselor (P4)
- Cool young conselor, dramatic storyteller, animated, good with voice, dresses similar to campers
DRESS IN OWN CLOTHES: warm counselor-style clothing, jeans, sneakers, hoodie, baseball cap if you like, maybe nametag.
Ghost of Lizzy
- Young girl around 10 years old, sometimes creeps about very quietly, other times chaotically, one moment runs quickly and screams, gives very eerie and creepy stare before disappearing back into the woods
